opaque envelope;
has three lines for CHARGES immediately below the heading.

The first Commonwealth design was a very plain envelope printed on dark pink paper.
This design was possibly printed before 1917 and so towards the end of the Interim period.

AE-EU-1.

Urgent delivery envelope used at Mosman, NSW.

Has had a delivery notice - possibly an acknowledgement of receipt - torn off.

Characteristics:

opaque envelope;
heading is left justified.

AE-EU-1 (reverse).

Characteristics:

plain with no writing or flap marking;
flap is rounded with significantly curved sides.
